¿Por Qué CEDROS? | Why CEDARS?

 INTRODUCCIÓN | INTRODUCTION

Cuando Dios habló a nuestros corazones diciendo que no nos moviéramos, sino que nos quedáramos aquí en Stafford, una de las frases curiosas del pasaje que utilizó en Jeremías 42, vino a través del verso 10 donde Dios le dice al pueblo: “Permanezcan aquí en esta tierra. Si lo hacen, los edificaré y no los derribaré; los plantaré y no los desarraigaré…” (Jeremías 42:10a (NTV)).

When God spoke to our hearts saying we should not move, but stay here in Stafford, one of the curious phrases about the passage that God used in Jeremiah 42, came through verse 10 where God tells the people: “If you will remain in this land, then I will build you up and not pull you down; I will plant youand not pluck you up…” (Jeremiah 42:10a (ESV)).

It took a while but that seed germinated in our hearts through God’s affirmation and confirmation through many different means.

Tomo un tiempo pero esa semilla germinó en nuestros corazones mientras Dios afirmaba y confirmaba el llamado de varias formas.

UN SUEÑO | A DREAM

We started to dream about what God could do. And once you start dreaming, you know God is moving. That’s part of the reason why you are reading this, God is planting this seed in those He is calling to be with us that you may start dreaming with us about what only He can do.

Empezamos a soñar de lo que Dios podría hacer. Y una vez el Señor empieza a poner sueños santos en nuestras mentes y corazones, sabemos que Dios se esta moviendo. Esa es parte de la razón por la cual estas leyendo esto, Dios está plantando semillas en los corazones de los que Él quiere que se unan a nosotros para que comiencen a soñar con nosotros acerca de lo que solo Dios puede hacer en Stafford.

What would a church after God’s own heart look like? The church He would plant by the movement of His Holy Spirit. A study back through the whole book of Acts guided us, as God continued to speak and confirm to us through many people and different situations.

¿Cómo se vería una iglesia moldeada al corazón de Dios, la Iglesia que Él estableció—la Iglesia que Él quiere plantar por el movimiento del Espíritu Santo. Un estudio nuevo a través del libro de Hechos nos guio, mientras Dios continuaba hablándonos mediante Su Palabra y mediante varias personas de Dios.

UNA CASA DE ORACIÓN | A HOUSE OF PRAYER

Comenzamos a orar por un nombre, como parte de esa visión. Pensamos en mucho— “Oasis” fue uno (como se llamaba un grupo de estudio bíblico que Pastor Mario comenzó cuando llegamos a Stafford). Teníamos la convicción, cualquiera que fuera el nombre, de que debía tener como subtítulo “Casa de Oración.”

We started to pray for a name as part of this vision and we thought of many. We liked “Oasis” because that was the name of the first Bible study group Pastor Mario started when we first got to Stafford. We had one conviction through it all: Whatever the name, it would have as a subtitle “House of Prayer.”

That holy urge came from the simple statement Jesus made in Matthew 21:13 (also in Mark 11:17). After driving out the money changers from the temple, Jesus told them “my house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples” (ESV). “All nations,” say other versions. Either way, God’s house shall be called a House of Prayer. We took that to heart.

Esa pasión en nuestro corazón de que este lugar sea una “Casa de Oración,” viene de esa simple declaración de Jesús en Mateo 21:13 (y también Marcos 11:17). Después de sacar a todos los que estaban comprando y vendiendo en el templo, Jesús les dijo, »“Mi casa será llamada casa de oración para todos los pueblos,” (NVI). “Para todas las naciones,” dicen otras traducciones. Pero de cualquier modo, la casa de Dios debe ser llamada casa de oración.

UN CEDARO | A CEDAR

Así que, buscábamos, _________ Casa de Oración.

We were looking for, __________ House of Prayer.

We thought of simply “Stafford International House of Prayer” but it still didn’t feel right. And we kept thinking of that word God gave us that we were no planting anything, but that He was planting us.

Pensamos en algo simple como “Casa de Oración Internacional de Stafford,” pero no sentíamos confirmación. Seguíamos pensando en aquella palabra que Dios nos dio de que nosotros no íbamos a plantar nada, sino que Él nos iba a plantar a nosotros.

Y fue entonces cuando Dios nos llevó a Ezequiel 17:22-24:

 »“Así dice el Señor y Dios: De la copa de un cedro tomaré un retoño, de las ramas más altas arrancaré un brote y lo plantaré sobre un cerro muy elevado. Lo plantaré sobre el cerro más alto de Israel, para que eche ramas y produzca fruto y se convierta en un magnífico cedro. Toda clase de aves anidará en él y vivirá a la sombra de sus ramas. Y todos los árboles del campo sabrán que yo soy el Señor. Al árbol grande lo corto y al pequeño lo hago crecer. Al árbol verde lo seco y al seco, lo hago florecer.

»“Yo, el Señor, lo he dicho y lo cumpliré”».

That was when God took us to Ezekiel 17:22-24:

“‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will take a shoot from the very top of a cedar and plant it; I will break off a tender sprig from its topmost shoots and plant it on a high and lofty mountain. On the mountain heights of Israel I will plant it; it will produce branches and bear fruit and become a splendid cedar. Birds of every kind will nest in it; they will find shelter in the shade of its branches. All the trees of the forest will know that I the Lord bring down the tall tree and make the low tree grow tall. I dry up the green tree and make the dry tree flourish.

“‘I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it.’”

Now we saw it clearly: CEDARS House of Prayer. There is a lot of meaning to this passage, it is, in fact, a messianic passage foreseeing the promise of Jesus. But here, we simply saw God identified us as that shoot from a cedar, that tender sprig that the Lord Himself is planting here in Stafford. To “produce branches and bear fruit.”

Ahora lo podíamos ver claramente: CEDROS Casa de Oración. Al leer el pasaje, pudimos ver como Dios nos tomaba como a ese retoño, esa ramita de un cedro, que Él va a plantar (lo mismo que nos había dicho antes). Este es un pasaje profundo, es un pasaje mesiánico que hace referencia a Jesús, pero en este contexto Dios simplemente nos dejaba ver como Él nos planta para que echemos ramas y produzcamos frutos.

TODA CLASE DE AVES | ALL TYPES OF BIRDS

Dice el pasaje también que, “Toda clase de aves anidará en él y vivirá a la sombra de sus ramas.” Sentimos así profundamente en nuestro corazón, que debíamos expandir nuestra visión para incorporar el modelo bilingüe, abriéndole puertas a familias mixtas en las que Dios en Su misericordia a unido diferentes culturas. ¡A nosotros nos encanta eso! ¡Es la historia de muchos de nosotros! Nos recuerda aquel pasaje en Apocalipsis 7:9 en el que Juan vio en el cielo “una multitud tomada de todas las naciones, tribus, pueblos y lenguas; eran tan grande que nadie podía contarla. Estaban de pie delante del trono del Cordero, vestidos de ropas blancas y con ramas de palma en la mano” (NIV).

Eso es lo que CEDROS reflejará, de acuerdo a como Dios nos dirija.

Los jóvenes serán una parte importante de lo que Dios quiere hacer en esta casa de oración. Recordamos lo que Pablo le dijo a Timoteo (4:12), “Que nadie te menosprecie por ser joven. Al contrario, que los creyentes vean en ti un ejemplo a seguir en la manera de hablar, en la conducta, en amor, fe y pureza” (NIV). El liderazgo de CEDROS está comprometido a no menospreciar a nuestros jóvenes. Nosotros estamos contando con ellos. Oramos constantemente por lo que Dios está haciendo y va a hacer en ellos y a través de ellos. Dios los quiere usar en esta iglesia hoy, no mañana o cuando sean más grandes. Dios los llama tomar consciencia ya.

The passage also says that, “Birds of every kind will nest in it; they will find shelter in the shade of its branches.” We felt deep within our souls that we should expand our vision to incorporate a bilingual model, opening the door to mixed families in which God, in His mercy, has united different cultures. We love that! It is the story of many of us! It reminds us of that beautiful passage in Revelations 7:9 in which John saw in heaven “a great multitude that one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the lamb.  They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands” (ESV).

CEDARS will be a reflection of that.

Young people are an important part of what God wants to do here in this house of prayer. The leaders pray constantly for them. We remember what Paul told young Timothy (4:12), “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity” (NIV).

We, the leaders of this church, are committed to not look down on our young people because of their youth. We are counting on them. We are praying for them and for what we know God will do through them!God wants to use them today. Not tomorrow or when they grow up, but God is calling our youth to conscience for this hour.

CEDROS DEL LÍBANO | CEDARS OF LEBANON

El concepto del cedro, esos cedros del Líbano (la bandera de Lebanon tiene el cedro como símbolo en el centro aún hoy día), es profundo en La Palabra. El cedro representa fortaleza y seguridad, calidad y belleza. El templo de Salomón estaba cubierto de esa madera.

1 Reyes 6:14-15a

Cuando Salomón terminó de construir la estructura del templo, revistió las paredes interiores con tablas de cedro, artesonándolas desde el piso hasta el techo…”

The concept of the cedar, those cedars of Lebanon (the Lebanese national flag still has a cedar tree at its center today) is profound in Scripture. The cedar represents something strong, something secure. It represents quality and beauty. Solomon covered the temple with it.

1 Kings 6:14-15a

So Solomon built the temple and completed it. He lined its interior walls with cedar boards, paneling them from the floor of the temple to the ceiling…”

Ese templo fue destruido, pero en la reconstrucción del templo también se utilizó el cedro.

Esdras 3:7

Luego dieron dinero a los canteros y carpinteros. A los de Sidón y Tiro les dieron comida, bebida y aceite para que, por mar, llevaran madera de cedro desde el Líbano hasta Jope, conforme a la autorización que había dado Ciro, rey de Persia.

The first temple was destroyed, and for its reconstruction, they also used cedar.

Ezra 3:7

Then they gave money to the masons and carpenters, and gave food and drink and olive oil to the people of Sidon and Tyre, so that they would bring cedar logs by sea from Lebanon to Joppa, as authorized by Cyrus king of Persia.

ARBOLES DEL SEÑOR | TREES OF GOD

El pueblo de Dios fue intencional al respecto por lo que ya mencionamos, el concepto del cedro era profundo en La Palabra.

Salmos 104:16

Los árboles del Señor reciben su riego, los cedros del Líbano que él plantó.

Hermoso, ¿no? Siempre con ese énfasis de Él los plantó.

The people of God were intentional about the cedar in the temple because the tree had great meaning in the Scriptures.

Psalm 104:16

The trees of the Lord are well cared for— the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.

Wonderful, no? Always with that emphasis that it is He who planted them.

He may also bring them down:

Psalm 29:5

“The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;    the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.”

This is why we depend completely on Him and not on our personal skills.

Dios no tan solo planta el cedro, Él también lo puede destruir:

Por eso es que dependemos de Dios en todo lo que hacemos y no en nuestras destrezas personales.

GUIADOS POR EL ESPÍRITU | SPIRIT LED

CEDROS será una iglesia dirigida por el Espíritu Santo de Dios.

CEDARS will be a church led by the Holy Spirit of God. One of Jesus’ parables about the Kingdom of God is applicable here.

Mark 4:26-29

“He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”

God is doing a work here in CEDARS. He’s at the center. Jesus is the head of this church. The Holy Spirit is the only one who can transform your life.

Una de las parábolas de Jesús acerca del Reino de Dios es importante aquí:

“Jesús también dijo: «El reino de Dios es como un agricultor que esparce semilla en la tierra. Día y noche, sea que él esté dormido o despierto, la semilla brota y crece, pero él no entiende cómo sucede. La tierra produce las cosechas por sí sola. Primero aparece una hoja, luego se forma la espiga y finalmente el grano madura. Tan pronto como el grano está listo, el agricultor lo corta con la hoz porque ha llegado el tiempo de la cosecha».”

Dios está haciendo Su trabajo en CEDROS, Casa de Oración. Él está en el centro. Jesús es la cabeza de esta iglesia. El Espíritu Santo es el único que puede transformar tu vida.

CONCLUSIÓN | CONCLUSION

Escucha Salmos 92:12,

El justo florecerá como la palmera; Crecerá como cedro en el Líbano.

Esa es la promesa que tenemos de nuestro Padre celestial. Él nos planta. Él nos transforma y Él nos crece por el poder del Espíritu Santo que se mueve en medio de nosotros.

Alabado sea Su Nombre!

This is the promise we have from our Father in heaven. It is He who plants us. He who transforms us. And He who grows us by the power of the Holy Spirit who is moving amongst us.
